Drilling Technology

Oil and gas companies operate in many countries around the world. Their exploration and production (E&P) operations generate many kinds of waste that must be carefully and appropriately managed. Some of these wastes are inherently part of the E&P process; examples are drilling wastes, tank bottoms, pit sludges, drilling muds and oily spills from spill clean as well as produced water.

In some host countries, mature environmental regulatory programs are in place that provide for various waste management options on the basis of the characteristics of the wastes and the environmental settings of the sites.

In other countries, the waste management requirements and authorized options are stringent, even though the infrastructure to meet the requirements may not be available yet. In some cases, regulations and/or waste management infrastructure do not exist at all. Companies operating in these countries can be confronted with limited and expensive waste management options.

The Nopal Group’s technology (the Nopal Solution) provides a biological solution to the hydrocarbon problem via a unique combination of an all-natural formula of microorganisms and nutrients and a state-of-the-art soil process facility.

The Nopal Solution can efficiently and effectively meet any wide range E&P waste management expectations.

Technology

Bio-Konversion TechnologyThe Nopal Solution employs a unique biological formula combined with a state-of-the–art process facility maximizing the treatment of hydrocarbon waste.

Specifically, the formula and  mechanical combination create an explosion of “biodegradation”, a natural process in which bacteria, micro-organisms and macro-organisms consume organics such as petroleum hydrocarbons, carbon-based polymers, lubricants, and other carbon based additives and reduces them to normal products and byproducts such as energy, biomass and carbon dioxide.

The Nopal Solution has progressed from (1). successful laboratory analysis to a (2). 2nd generation facility that was granted a commercial disposal permit from the Texas Railroad Commission, to (3). a 3rd generation state-of-the-art process facility dedicated to international operations.

Bioremediation Formula

Part of unique formula associated with the Nopal Solution is a plant called Kenaf

Kenaf is a cellulosic additive essential to absorb oil, providing a carbon nutrient source (which in drilling operations is provided by the hydrocarbons, lubricants, etc.), oxygen, a suitable diluent environment (such as water, seawater, and soil), enzymes, minerals, and an adequate supply of living bacteria.

During 2009, The Nopal Team conducted its first international pilot program for growing kenaf.
